Clinical Authority. Lived Motherhood. Intentional Design.

Milk Drunk Club and MilkHaven were founded by a practicing NICU Registered Nurse and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant with more than 20 years of bedside experience supporting mothers and newborns.

Founder

Shannon Pratten is a practicing NICU Registered Nurse and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant with more than 20 years of bedside experience caring for newborns and their mothers. A California native who met her husband while working as a travel nurse in London, she went on to have three water births — one in a birth center and two at home — and breastfed each of her children until age four.

Now based in South Carolina, Shannon runs a private lactation practice while continuing to fly to Berkeley every six weeks to work per diem NICU shifts. Remaining clinically active is intentional — it keeps her work grounded in the real experiences of mothers navigating early postpartum life.

Extended Bio

For more than two decades, Shannon has worked at the bedside supporting families through some of the most fragile and formative days of newborn life. Across continents and communities, she has witnessed both the resilience of mothers and the gaps in the systems meant to support them.

Motherhood deepened her clinical knowledge into lived conviction. Health has always been the throughline of her life — not as trend, but as discipline. From researching materials and ingredients to prioritizing maternal nervous system stability, her personal life mirrors the guidance she offers professionally.

Milk Drunk Club was created to offer calm, evidence-based breastfeeding support rooted in maternal confidence. MilkHaven emerged from decades of watching exhausted parents manage fragile milk in disposable plastic and chaotic freezer systems — and asking whether the way we store milk reflects the way we value maternal health.

About Milk Drunk Club

Milk Drunk Club provides in-home and virtual lactation support, education, and community rooted in biological norms and maternal autonomy. Founded by a NICU RN and IBCLC, MDC centers calm guidance, practical systems, and individualized goals — without pressure or ideology.

About MilkHaven

MilkHaven is a silicone-based breastmilk storage system designed to reduce plastic exposure and bring organization and intention to milk storage. Created by a practicing NICU nurse and mother of three, it reflects a belief that breastmilk is biologically precious — and deserves a system that treats it that way.

Launch expected Summer 2026..
